Hi there!

My name's Max, I'm one of the creators of this site. I'd like to tell you about how we got the idea for BuyOwnDay.com and just what you can do here.

Well...on the site here you can buy your very own day (or days - a whole period or eon)! Your own day, you get to describe why this day is so important, and then share this day with your friends or use it to impress your enemies.

How it happened is that this April, I traveled with some friends to England. We had been planning to fly home when we got stuck at the airport because of the volcano (the one that we can't pronounce either). First we just idled our time away, drinking copious amounts of - ahem - refreshing mineral water...and the days just kept getting longer and longer. The days just weren't doing us any good.

It was at that moment that - lo and behold - one of us had an idea: we have a lot of days, and not a lot of money...so let's sell days! Thus the idea was born and in the ten days remaining, we made the design and almost finished the first version of the site. And when we finally got home, we finished the overall project, which you now have in front of you.

But let's not forget the most important thing. How can you buy your day on BuyOwnDay.com?

It couldn't be any easier: there's a calendar on the main site page. The calendar has days on it. Some of them have already been bought, while others are free and anxiously awaiting their owner. You can wander through the past, present and future, using the calendar to see which days are whose. Or just use the "Jump to a day" button to fly right to the day you want!

So, for example, find your birthday on the calendar (protip: find your boyfriend/girlfriend's birthday). Got it? Is the day still free? If it is, then snap it up for $1. If you don't act quickly enough, someone else will end up buying your birthday (or even worse, your significant other's), and wouldn't that just be awkward?
